a spell doesn't really have an essence or a loaded meaning.
it follows the formula <you can't spell xy without y >

this formula is based on finding a word within another word.  I decided to unveil them in the same subtle way they came to me; inbetween conversations, when looking out the window and focusing on a word in a poster or sign on the street. Too often one takes words for granted, and so for their representation, I found them best suited to be protruding off the walls, but also hide in plain sight. The spectator may or may not encounter them. It will be a matter of fate.

The causality of these findings is difficult to pin down, because it changes subjects and draws associations in disparate directions with tangential meanings. Sometimes coincidences makes us ponder our choice of words, some will makes us laugh. Some are very serious and dwell in the dance of political correctness and ethical considerations. I choose not to be afraid to have difficult conversations, I wish to learn as much as I can while I am willing and able.

I feel compelled to cast these spells into space, and share them with whomever might be interested or notices them. When moving away from Amsterdam, I even through some to the trash and hid them around the Rietveld campus. Some made their way to peoples homes and some bounced into group exhibitions like this year (2025) they made apperances in Madrid at PradiAuto and in Amsterdam at the Baby Reni Foundation.  I think im done with them. The last four reproductions have been made to fit an A3 and have been sold of commisioned after this , I have closed the series.

Sincerely,
